LifeLine: The Ultimate Bond

Through the intersecting pillars of storytelling, artwork and historical data, Versiti’s innovative exhibit LifeLine: The Ultimate Bond serves as a much-needed catalyst for authentic dialogue and increased organ and tissue donor registration within Milwaukee’s African American community.

Educational in nature, this groundbreaking exhibition presents inspiring personal testimonies of organ and tissue donation by Milwaukee Divine Nine members. These encouraging accounts of survival are enriched through a powerful presentation of multimedia artwork by Wisconsin-based, African American creatives.

Supplemental facts and statistics surrounding organ and tissue donation aim to contextualize this exhibition, including a digitally interactive map of Wisconsin highlighting the community need for organ transplants by county.

Generously supported by Donate Life Wisconsin, the exhibition is a collaboration with local artists, United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS), Mapbox, America’s Black Holocaust Museum, and members of the nine prominent Black Greek-lettered fraternity and sorority organizations with ties to organ and tissue donation.

LifeLine: The Ultimate Bond Art Exhibition Registration

Year over year, the need for organ donation intensifies.

More than 100,000 individuals across the nation are waiting for a transplant and 20 die every day because the organ needed is not available.

One organ donor has the potential to save eight lives while enhancing up to 75 more through tissue donation.

More than 220,000 African Americans call Milwaukee home, but only 25% of the population are registered organ and tissue donors.

Community Collaboration for Life-saving Benefits.
